Fog 30-oct-2002 10:45hNote:
  • I've been counting (and chatting because there was hardly any migration) with Henk-Jan Hof (HH) this morning
  • The first four hours there was lots of fog and visibility was less than 100 meters. Bad luck. After the fog had disappeared (that took four hours!), some Fieldfares and Starlings started up again; small groups of Blue Tits started to move to the northeast.
Local birds and other specialities:
  • In the canal in front of us, a Great Crested Grebe and a Black-necked Grebe were present.
  • We saw an adult Sparrowhawk who nearly caught the local Kingfisher from the heap of stones!.
  • Very special were the two migrating Swallows; 30 october is a very late date.
  • One Small Tortoiseshell (Aglais urticae) Kleine Vos flew to SSW.
