Note:
  • Hunters were shooting this morning. The 16 shots which I counted, caused a lot of disturbance. Dozens of Greylag Geese and ducks flew out of the reservation-area near the "Loze Dijk".
  • An huge hot-air balloon ( PH-JWM) also made a lot of birds fly away. The lake with near the Kooiweg with more then 100 ducks (Mallard, Tufted Ducks, Teals and Pochards) was left completely empty after it's passage.
Local birds and other specialities:
  • Almost in the last minute, a Montagu's Harrier (ringtail) appeared, flying low over the field to SW. I have seen the Montagu's Harrier here only once before: excactly four years ago; 25 august 1997, when a ringtail flew to the SW (in the seventh kwarter).
  • A pair of Ruddy Shelducks appeared. Last year they produced 5 young.
  • Other local birds this morning: Kingfisher, Great Bittern, Purple - and Grey Herons, White Stork, Barnacle Goose, Tufted Duck with three young etc.
