Note:
-
Today my first early morningcounting this "autumn". In the middle of a
heat wave, migration already has started. It's nice counting when it's
not so cold yet.
-
Today, after nine months of absence, I started again with my observations
for the sixth year. In the years 1994-1998 I did exact 200 early morningcountings.
-
Except birds who fly over, I write down all the local species I see around
the observationpoint. At this place I will mention specialties.
-
This *.html site just started, so it is very incomplete at the moment.
In the next months I will expend it with more information about the observationpoint,
species and so on.
Local birds and other specialities:
-
The migrating Great Egret today is of course very special. At this observationpoint
we have seen the species also in two other years. Both times it was a local
bird; this time an adult flew at 07:18h in northeast direction.
-
Local birds today were: 2 Purple Herons (ad & juv), 7 Mute Swans (pair
with 3 young and a pair without young), 10 Egyptian Geese, Goshawk, Buzzard,
50 Lapwings, 4 Snipes, 2 Crested Grebes and a Water Rail.
One of the most strange species which I haven't seen yet, after all
these years, is the Magpie. When I started her in 1994, there was still
a lot of hunting in the area and I thougt "they are probably all shot".
But now huntingpressure decreased, I still don't see them. The nearest
nests are found only 1 kilometer away but they never move into the area.
