Note:
  • After a "no-migration-counting-period" of eight months, I went to De Wieden to find out how much migration there would be this evening. My chair was still present in the bush and was full of live. It's plastic so it can't be eaten but animals use it as a shelter. Little moths, snails, slugs had occupied my chair. Out of the hollow frame of the chair, there came out a Pygmy Shrew ! (see pictures below). But now I am going to use it again.
Local birds and other specialities:
  • On the fields there was a juvenile White Stork foraging; in the ditches two adults Purple Herons and one Grey Heron were fishing.
  • Between the several singing birds I heard one Savi's Warbler and two Grasshopper Warblers.
  • Raptors: one adult female Goshawk, one Buzzard and two Kestrels.
  • Others: Water Rail, Tree Pipit, 21 Tufted Ducks, 2 Egyptian Geese, 17 Greylag Geese etc.
  • There was some migration, not much but like every year, it's nice to start again.
