Note:
  • Good wheather, nice migration although most birds were flying extremely high.
Local birds and other specialities:
  • Several Coal Tits and Goldcrests were present.
  • One juvenile Purple Heron, several Grey Herons, Snipes, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Kingfisher, Goshawk, 110 Widgeons, Stock Doves etc...
  • A Group of 27 Greater Canada Geese arrived and landed about 1 kilometer away from me. After the countings I tried to find them back but they were gone. Riding home on the bycicle, I found a group of 11 birds in the new harbour of Meppel. In the water of the harbour there grows a tropical plant which you see often in gardenponds.

    27 Greater Canada Geese Later I found eleven of them back; here five of them.
    Tropical waterplants in the harbour
    Tropical waterplants Water lettuce (Pistia stratiotes) in the harbour. It's sold in shops under the dutch name "Mosselplant".
